Bournemouth vs Manchester United player ratings: Who impressed at the Vitality Stadium?

Manchester United got off to a bang in their Premier League opener against AFC Bournemouth as Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored on his debut.

Although the football on offer was wide of the mark at times, Jose Mourinho began his United tenure in style as his side cruised to a 3-1 victory against the south coast side.

Goals from Juan Mata, Wayne Rooney and Ibrahimovic made the difference while the Cherries pulled one back thanks to Adam Smith's late effort.

It could have been more for United but fans will be delighted with the start nonetheless.

Bournemouth:

Artur Boruc: Showed safe hands when dealing with high crosses, but should have got down quicker to Ibrahimovic's low strike. 7/10

Simon Francis: The Bournemouth captain never recovered from his nightmare contribution to United's opener. 4/10

Adam Smith: A superb consolation strike perhaps couldn't mask the tough time he was given by United's forwards in the second half. 6/10

Steve Cook: Tided up well in the first half, but struggled against Rooney when he ran on to balls over the top. 6/10

Charlie Daniels: The marauding left-back was too often pinned back in his own half to operate as he would wish. 6/10

Andrew Surman: Tidy in possession, but didn't get forward until late on when he nearly scored. 6/10

Harry Arter: Never stopped running in midfield, but often lost out in the battle with Fellaini and Herrera. 6/10

Lewis Cook: The teenager showed promise on his Premier League debut, moving the ball with purpose until his removal. 7/10

Jordon Ibe: A difficult debut for Bournemouth's record signing. Often in exciting positions, his game lacked a cutting attacking edge. 5/10

Callum Wilson: Very few touches for the striker blighted by injury last season. He did strike the post with a fizzing shot but the whistle had already been blown. 5/10

Josh King: Showed flashes of skill in wide positions, but little composure nearer goal. Culpable in the build-up to United's second. 5/10

Manchester United

David de Gea: Beaten by Smith's super strike, the goalkeeper had little else to until he saved expertly from Surman in injury time. 6/10

Antonio Valencia: Patrolled the right flank where one of his crosses eventually resulted in United's important second goal. 7/10

Eric Bailly: An excellent Premier League debut from the defender that saw him launch into some clattering challenges. 8/10

Daley Blind: Also impressed at centre-back where his reading of the game ensured a quiet contest for his goalkeeper. 7/10

Luke Shaw: Showed a dodgy first touch early on, but grew into the game as he continues his comeback from long-term injury. 6/10

Marouane Fellaini: Busy without being cumbersome. The Belgian executed more tackles than any other play. 7/10

Ander Herrera: His short passing game impressed, but didn't always get it right when attempting more ambitious balls. 6/10

Juan Mata: Shook off the disappointment of last weekend to score his first goal as a Jose Mourinho player. 7/10

Wayne Rooney: The captain continues to draw criticism, but yet again answers with a goal. His well-placed header came on the back of a missed one-on-one and a questionable fall in the penalty area. 6/10

Zlatan Ibrahimovic: After a quiet first half, he took the second by storm. He twice played in Rooney, and then scored a debut Premier League goal from distance. 7/10

Anthony Martial: Occasionally excited after long periods on the periphery of this one, but his shooting was wayward. 6/10
