Cesc Fabregas has a lot of work to do to win back the favour of Arsenal supporters but, after appearing on Sky Sports’ most recent Monday Night Football, he may have done at least some of the legwork.

The Chelsea midfielder, who spent nine years at Arsenal between 2003 and 2011, appeared alongside host Ed Chamberlain and pundit Jamie Carragher to analyse his old and current clubs’ rivals, Tottenham Hotspur, as they travelled to face Stoke City.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side are currently competing with league leaders Leicester City for the Premier League title, which would be their first league championship since 1961.

At the time of the broadcast, Tottenham were eight points behind the Foxes and, when asked whether he could foresee any further twists or turns in the final weks, Fabregas made no secret of where his allegiances lie.

"Well, hopefully not,” he said. “I don't want Spurs to win it to be honest!

“For what they've done through the season I'd love Leicester to win the Premier League," Fabregas added.

The Spain international may have been slightly disappointed by what followed, in that case, as Tottenham put in a commanding performance to claim a 4-0 victory at the Britannia Stadium.

Following Leicester’s 2-2 draw with West Ham United on Sunday, Pochettino’s men are now only five points behind the Foxes with four games remaining.
