Chelsea vs Leicester team news: Riyad Mahrez dropped to the bench as Jeffrey Schlupp starts
A look at the two sides as they meet at Stamford Bridge
Leicester have made four changes to the side that ran out against Southampton two weekends ago, with Riyad Mahrez notably absent from the starting XI.
The star has been dropped to the bench, alongside Islam Slimani, as Ahmed Musa and Jeffrey Schlupp make their way into the team.
Danny Simpson has also missed out while Luis Hernandez makes a return to the right-back position.
Mahrez’s exclusion from the starting line-up will raise the most questions as Claudio Ranieri looks to establish a winning formula for his team.
Jamie Vardy keeps his place up top.
As for Chelsea, Antonio Conte has made just the one change to the side that beat Hull 2-0 at the KCOM Stadium.
Pedro comes in for Willian in a side that will be expected to keep the 3-4-3 formation that was effectively implemented against Mike Phelan’side.
Chelsea beat Leicester 4-2 in the EFL Cup last month after fighting back from 2-0 to win it in extra-time.
Cesc Fabregas helped fire the Blues to a win that day but a “minor injury” has kept him out of today’s match squad.
Starting XI:
Chelsea: Courtois, Azpilicueta, David Luiz,Cahill, Moses, Kanté, Matic, Alonso, Pedro, Diego Costa, Hazard.
Leicester: Schmeichel, Hernández, Morgan, Huth, Fuchs, Albrighton, Drinkwater, Amartey, Schlupp, Musa, Vardy.
