Eden Hazard set for five-year, £200,000-a-week contract offer from Chelsea

Belgian will become the Blues' highest-paid player

Eden Hazard will become Chelsea's highest earner with the Blues set to confirm they have offered the Belgian star a bumper £200,000-a-week contract.

The 23-year-old is being chased by the likes of Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain, but the west London club will secure his future with a five-year deal that will pay him more than Cesc Fabregas and Diego Costa, according to the Evening Standard.

Hazard has had a subdued start to this campaign with one goal and zero assists so far with Fabregas and Costa stealing the limelight for table-topping Chelsea.

But Hazard, who was overburdened last season has admitted he is happy to be Chelsea's third option this year. Last season he was the club's top scorer with 14 goals in the Premier League and added a further seven assists as Jose Mourinho relied on him to be the team's match winner.

Hazard revealed in June that he had no interest in leaving Stamford Bridge, saying: “I am staying at Chelsea 100 per cent and I am in discussions with Chelsea for a new contract.

“It is only the beginning of the talks right now so we have time, but the fact that Chelsea have offered me a new deal means they have a lot of confidence in me that I can do a good job and that they can count on me.”

Chelsea have already handed lengthy extensions to Cesar Azpilicueta and Thibaut Courtois this month and are also expected to make an announcement soon regarding a new deal for England international Gary Cahill.
