Manchester United's Antonio Valencia, Manchester City's Raheem Sterling and Hull City's Curtis Davies all joined Chelsea's Eden Hazard as the four nominees for August's Premier League Player of the Month.

Looking at the stats, we can exclusively reveal that it's Hazard who deserves to walk away with the award.

The Chelsea winger has rediscovered the form that saw him crowned the Premier League's Player of the Year for the 2014/15 season. A disappointing campaign followed in 2015/16, however the 25-year-old appeared to find his feet in the final few games of the season, as well as putting in some excellent performances for Belgium at Euro 2016.

The stats team at Oulala trawled through the player performance data of all four nominees for the monthly award and it was Hazard that came out on top in a host of key areas.

While Hull City's Davies and Manchester United's Valencia have put in some excellent displays, and although it's impossible to compare defenders to wingers, neither Davies or Valencia dominates their respective defensive key areas like Hazard has in attack for Chelsea in August. Sterling has adapted well to life under new Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola following a poor showing at Euro 2016, having registered two goals and two assists in his side's opening three league games, however the underlying stats point heavily in Hazard's favour.

Hazard tops the charts in three categories. He has completed the most successful dribbles (17), four more than any other Premier League player. His shot accuracy, an impressive 58 per cent, is the best from all 10 player to have registered more than 10 shots so far this season. While it's no surprise to see that his tricky feet have caused defenders problems, drawing 10 fouls.

A goal against both West Ham and Burnley has Hazard sat third in the goal scoring charts. Sergio Aguero and Zlatan Ibrahimovic are the league's only players to have scored three goals in their opening three games.

With 14 attempts at goal, Hazard again sits third in the rankings for shots. Aguero and Philippe Coutinho are the only players to have recorded more shots (15).

The six key passes that Hazard has produced puts the winger ninth in the overall player rankings, while the 152 successful passes he has completed in his opening three fixtures, puts him 14th.
