Dele Alli’s wonderful first-half strike was the pick of the action from an entertaining 1-1 draw between Everton and Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.

The 19-year-old’s side was a goal down when he took a long pass from centre-back Toby Alderweireld onto his chest and then volleyed past a helpless Tim Howard.

Alli’s strike levelled the score just as it seemed Tottenham would return to their dressing room behind. After dominating for much of the first half, an dhitting the woodwork through Harry Kane, the away side had fallen behind courtesy of a sweet strike from old boy Aaron Lennon.

The 28-year-old moved to Goodison Park from the visiting club last summer, following a loan spell with Everton in the second half of last season.

However, Roberto Martinez's side did not lead for long and Alli's equaliser was exactly what Tottenham's first-half display had deserved.

Everton came on stronger after the break with Muhamed Besic and Ramiro Funes Mori both going close but neither they, nor Mauricio Pochettino's men, could find a winner.
