Sol Campbell's clash with Eric Djemba-Djemba in last Sunday's Community Shield has been referred to the Football Association's video advisory panel.

Television replays caught the Arsenal defender kicking out at the Cameroon midfielder, who was spoken to by the referee, Steve Bennett, for a raised boot which hit Campbell in the chest. Djemba-Djemba will not face any further censure as Bennett confirmed that he dealt with his challenge, meaning it is now outside the remit of the video advisory panel.

The Blackburn manager, Graeme Souness, said he made an unsuccessful inquiry for the Rangers captain, Barry Ferguson. The 25-year-old is Rangers' most prized asset and Rovers have money to spend following the summer sales of David Dunn and Damien Duff.

Rangers have huge financial problems but the club's honorary chairman, David Murray, said that the player would not be allowed to leave.
