Fantasy football scout tips gameweek 25: Sergio Aguero, Mohamed Salah, Bernardo Silva and Bakary Sako

Sergio Aguero

The flavour of the week, no doubt. His hat-trick against Newcastle United last time out may have been somewhat fortunate, but there is no denying that Sergio Aguero is a fantasy prospect again.

Harry Kane’s tough fixtures over the next three make Aguero an especially enticing proposition. If you are one of the lucky few who can fit both into their squad without major sacrifices elsewhere, even better.

Relegation-threatened West Bromwich Albion are the visitors to the Etihad on Wednesday night - a seemingly simple task on first sight - but there is one note of caution: the Baggies have tightened up at the back under Alan Pardew.

It may not necessarily be the Aguero goal bonanza many are hoping for.

Mohamed Salah

This column would not normally ‘tip’ a player that over half of managers in the game own, but the key thing to remember about Mohamed Salah is that plenty of those owners do not captain him.

Many will be swayed by Aguero’s kind home fixture this week, but Salah has an equally favourable trip to Huddersfield Town on the cards.

David Wagner’s side have shipped 11 goals in their last six. Liverpool, by contrast, have scored 16.

Bernardo Silva

One player who did himself no harm over the FA Cup weekend was Bernardo Silva, who played 89 minutes and provided an assist in City’s win in Cardiff.

What’s more, Leroy Sané’s injury in the same game means City’s ‘other Silva’ is likely to be handed more first-team opportunities over the weeks to come.

It has been a modest first year in English football for the summer signing from Monaco, but Wednesday night could be Silva’s chance to properly announce himself.

Bakary Sako

Though listed as a midfielder, Bakary Sako is actually playing up front for Roy Hodgson’s Crystal Palace and though not setting the world alight, the potential is clear.

Sako scored the decisive goal against Burnley back in gameweek 23, a few short days of notching against Brighton and Hove Albion in the FA Cup.

There are plenty of managers looking for budget midfield assets at the moment and at just £4.9m, they could do worse than a shot-happy player coming up against West Ham United’s defence.

Maya Yoshida

Southampton’s defence has been anything but the cheap source of clean sheets that we were hoping for at the start of the season, but chances of one this week a fair.

Brighton and Hove Albion visit St Mary’s on Wednesday night and have just five away goals to their name since the start of the season, with the last coming in early November at Swansea.

Maya Yoshida is a decent bet for six easy points this week, plus whatever attacking returns he can muster. The Japanese centre-half has looked like a threat on set-pieces at points this year.

Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting

After Paul Lambert’s first game in charge brought three points and a clean sheet, Stoke City are suddenly an semi-attractive prospect again.

With West Ham’s mid-price midfield option Marko Arnautovic out for a month, plenty of managers have sold up for £6.0m Xherdan Shaqiri already this week.

His team-mate and an early season favourite of ours, Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, is another to consider. The winger arguably carries just as much threat as Shaqiri but comes in £0.7m cheaper.
