Harry Kane's best goals of 2017
Show all 11Harry Kane has ended 2017 in record-breaking style after netting a hat-trick in Tottenham Hotspur’s 5-2 rout over Southampton on Boxing Day.
Kane’s opening goal saw him break Alan Shearer’s longstanding record for the most Premier League goals in a calendar year, while his second made him the leading goal-scorer in Europe’s top-five leagues, ahead of Barcelona’s Lionel Messi and Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo.
He ends the year with an impressive haul of 56 goals for club and country and he is currently the top scorer in the Premier League this season (with 18 goals), having won the Golden Boot for the past two seasons.
Kane, 24, has made clear his determination to one day succeed the likes of Messi and Ronaldo as the best player in the world and his manager Mauricio Pochettino has said that he is already approaching their level.
“Harry is world-class,” Pochettino commented after the Boxing Day win. “Today – one striker in the world, a specific position – who is better than Harry? It’s difficult to say he’s the best but he’s shown to everyone he’s one of the best.”
Here, Jack Pitt-Brooke selects Kane’s best goals from a record-breaking campaign.
