Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has named four players as potential "solutions" to replace injured Branislav Ivanovic in the starting line-up - but none of them is £14million full back Baba Rahman.

First-choice right-back Ivanovic injured his hamstring while on international duty with Serbia in midweek and is expected to be out until the end of October. Named in the Premier League Team of the Year last season, 31-year-old Ivanovic has been in awful form this year, with Chelsea fans calling for him to be axed from the side.

An obvious move could be to slide Cesar Azpilicueta to his natural position on the right and bring in Ghanaian Rahman on the left, but Mourinho didn't mention that as a potential option when the issue was raised at his press conference.

He did, however, name a teenager as a possible replacement for Ivanovic, despite the big money that was spent on Rahman - a deal that could reach £21m if clauses are met.

"I have four solutions [to replace Ivanovic]," said Mourinho.

"I have Azpilicueta. I have the adaptation of [Kurt] Zouma or Ramires and I have Ola Aina."

Rahman, 21, is yet to make his Premier League debut this season has only played against Maccabi Tel Aviv in the Champions League and Walsall in the League Cup, where he performed well in an attacking sense but looked vulnerable as a defender. Mourinho has also previously said that playing both Azpilicueta and Rahman would leave Chelsea vulnerable at set-pieces as both are unde r6ft.

Zouma usually plays as a right back and Ramires as a midfielder.

Southwark-born Aina, has been at the club since Under-11 level, rising through the ranks. Capable of playing in the centre or on the left of defence, the 19-year-old was an ever-present in the Chelsea U21 team that won the FA Youth Cup and the Uefa Youth League last season, as well helping the Blues to third in the U21 Premier League.

He has played for England at U16, U17, U18 and U19 level and has captained the latter.

Chelsea, 16th in the Premier League table with just eight points from their first eight matches, face a must-win game against Aston Villa on Saturday.
