Jose Mourinho will be taking charge of a team at Old Trafford in June – but only as part of charity match.

The Portuguese coach, who has been consistently tipped to replace Louis van Gaal at Manchester United this summer, will manage a celebrity England side in this year’s Soccer Aid game.

Mourinho, who was dismissed by Chelsea in December following a dismal start to the season, will be assisted by Sam Allardyce and Robbie Williams.

Claudio Ranieri, who is currently steering Leicester City’s remarkable title chase, will take charge of of a Rest of the World team.

“I want to be the first one to win the Soccer Aid trophy for both teams, England and the Rest of the World,” said Mourinho, who coached the Rest of the World to a 4-2 victory in 2014’s Soccer Aid event.

"Sam and I will make a very good partnership and it will be a great feeling for Claudio to finally lose a match! I hope the organisers can help me now with an English passport!"

Ranieri added: "Soccer Aid is a fantastic event, raising money for an amazing children's charity in Unicef.

"For Soccer Aid's 10th anniversary, it is a great honour that Robbie Williams has asked me to manage the Rest of the World XI and I'm looking forward to helping them defend their title."

Soccer Aid, a biennial event that started in 2006, has raised over £17million for Unicef since its inception.
