Leicester City champions: Soaked Claudio Ranieri celebrates 'crazy season'

The Italian is confident of shocking the world again when the Foxes compete in the Champions League next season

Claudio Ranieri, the triumphant Leicester City manager, was showered in champagne as Kasper Schmeichel and Christian Fuchs stormed his post-match press conference.

The Italian was barely a sentence into his media briefing following the 3-1 victory against Everton when the doors flew open. Jamie Vardy scored a brace which bookended an emotional strike from fans' favoruite Andy King as Leicester were presented with the Premier League trophy.

Andrea Bocelli, the world renowned tenor, performed nessun dorma and con te partiro before kick-off. After the trophy presentation, as Ranieri settled into his seat in the King Power media suite, in marched Schmeichel and Fuchs.

Both, like Ranieri, first time title winners, the cackling duo then doused the international media in champagne, before fleeing the scene, allowing Ranieri to compose himself.

"The people are unbelievable, thank you to them because they have been behind us for the whole season," he said, once he had dried off.

"I think it was an amazing moment for me because I'm not the youngest, but there is another test now. When you lift something special, when you're champions of England, the Premier League.

"Something special for everybody, especially for me. I won some cups. In England I lose in the final, in Spain, in Italy, but to lift the trophy here is fantastic."

Despite this being the first title of the idiosyncratic Italian's managerial career, the 64-year-old's appetite for success is stronger than ever. The Foxes will compete in the Champions League next season and Ranieri is confident of shocking the world yet again.

"I thought sooner or later, I will win a league title. Of course at the beginning, never did I think that we would reach this place. But slowly, I thought why not? This is a crazy season and we had fantastic consistency," he said.

"We have a very good owner, behind the manager, the team. When I saw them, this is a very good dressing room, they work so hard. I tried to blend my Italian tactics, to be solid, strong. Then I say, 'Free pizza if you keep a clean sheet,' so they improve!"
