A punter has cashed out to win £29,000 after backing Leicester City at the start of the season to win the Premier League title.

According to bookies Ladbrokes, Jon Pryke placed a £20 bet at 5000/1 for Claudio Ranierie's side to lift the title - he would have won £100,000 had he held on to his slip.

"I just feel like our luck might be running out," the 59-year-old told Ladbrokes.

"Teams have worked out how to play against us and the smaller teams will just start parking the bus. I’d actually have preferred our run in to be against the bigger teams as we know how to beat them.

"It’s been a crazy season, I’d be silly not to take my money and run. I’ve also backed Leicester to finish in the top four at 400/1, so I can enjoy the rest of season knowing I’ve got my winnings early. £29,000 is a huge amount of money and I’d be silly ignore it. Not bad from £20."

The bookmaker said that 47 people backed Leicester at the start of the season, with student Nathan Finlow previously cashing in on a £2 bet to make £1,600.
