Manchester United news: Zlatan Ibrahimovic breaks Old Trafford 'power' records during medical tests

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has already made his mark at Old Trafford after breaking power records in his Manchester United medical.

Even before putting pen to paper on his one-year deal the Swedish forward had made "history", as revealed by the club’s Twitter account.

Although the exact details of the power records have not been specified, such tests can typically involve short sprint work or standing jump tests.

His black-belt in Taekwondo may help to explain the fitness test results and his explosive presence on the pitch in general.

The results could be an indicator of what is to come from the Swede and may help to alleviate doubts that the former Paris Saint-Germain player will struggle to adjust to the demands of the Premier League.

After months of speculation regarding the forward’s future the 34-year-old was finally unveiled as a Manchester United player on Friday and will be reunited with coach Jose Mourinho.

The pair worked together at Inter Milan during the 2008/09 season and Ibrahimovic has already outlined his excitement to join Mourinho at Old Trafford.

"I have great memories," he said. "The only regret I had with Jose was that it was a short time with him. I had one season. We won together, we enjoyed it together, we had a great time together and I learned a lot.

"I got to know him as a person, not only as a coach, and I only have positive things to say.

"He is a winner, I am a winner, we both know what we want and that is to win. Wherever we go we win, and we will win."

Speaking on his future at the club and in the Premier League, he said: "I think it is a big challenge for me. Wherever I go I have won and I am looking forward to this new adventure, a new chapter in my career and my life.

"If I can win here, I don’t know how many players have had the possibility to play in different competitions like I have and won at the same time.”
