Manchester United are reportedly planning to reward teenage sensation Marcus Rashford with a new £15,000-a-week contract after his heroics against Midtjylland and Arsenal.

The 18-year-old scored a brace against the Danish champions to help United ease to a 5-1 second-leg victory at Old Trafford in the Europa League round-of-32 before adding a further two goals on his Premier League debut to see off the Gunners.

Rashford is believed to be on just £500-a-week at present and is completing his A-Levels in sixth form but, according to the Sun, is in line to receive a 3,000 per cent increase.

With his contract set to expire in the summer and with no indication whether the Red Devils planned on offering him a new deal, the talented teenager has shot to fame with two sparking displays which have potentially rescued Louis van Gaal’s season.

The emergence of youthful talent like Rashford, for instance, has reminded the club of their heritage, famed for the Class of ’92, while their chances of securing Champions League football appear more promising than a fortnight ago.

United know they either have to finish in the top-four or win the Europa League outright to secure a place in European football’s top tier competition. After five teenages made their debuts in seven days, Michael Carrick said: “You don’t really know what you’ve got until you put them in and give them a chance.

“That’s probably been the massive bonus for us over the whole season, the young lads. They’ve all looked comfortable, all settled in really well and everyone else responds to that.”
