Mario Balotelli's goal drought in the Premier League continues, despite having an incredibly simple chance to notch his first for Liverpool.

Following his £16m move from AC Milan, the Italian has now played in six Premier League games.

Whilst he might have scored in the Champions League against Ludogorets, it is in the Premier League that Liverpool are desperate for improvement.

The 3-2 win over QPR leaves Liverpool in fifth place, nine points behind pace-setter Chelsea. However, the result was incredibly fortunate on the balance of play.

Among the biggest concerns will be the form of Balotelli.

The striker had a host of chances at Loftus Road, but failed to convert any of them. The worst came midway through the first half when the ball broke to him after good work from Adam Lallana. With an open goal gaping, Balotelli could only hit the ball over the bar.

In the final few minutes of the crazy game in west London, he latched onto a low ball across the box from which he tried a cheeky flick that went wide. It was a chance he should of scored.

Liverpool will say the victory was the most important thing - but with Daniel Sturridge suffering a setback in his return from injury, Balotelli's form is becoming increasingly concerning.
