Tottenham playmaker Luka Modric has set his sights on success in 2010 after emerging unscathed from his goalscoring return to action.

Modric netted the opener against West Ham yesterday in his first start for four months after suffering a fractured fibula and reported no reaction to playing 83 minutes in the 2-0 victory.

He said: "It was good to start the game and hopefully this sort of game time will give me the chance to get back into the shape I was in at the start of the season.

"My goal and the win overall will help my confidence, so now I need to get keep going and working hard.

"Despite the length of time I had out, I feel good and I don't feel any pain from the injury, and I must thank our medical staff, particularly Nathan Gardiner (rehabilitation and conditioning coach), for getting me fit again."

Spurs are statistically the most improved team in 2009 and finished the year strongly, with Modric looking to help Harry Redknapp's side continue their form.

"That's three wins from four games now, and we haven't conceded a goal in those four games either, which is very important," he added.

"We just need to keep this form going. We've got to put what has been a great year behind us and hopefully make 2010 just as successful."
