Newcastle swept Burnley aside at St James' Park as the Magpies’ resurgent form continued.

First-half goals by Fabian Schar – a stunning strike from range – and Sean Longstaff – his first in the Premier League – put Newcastle ahead at the break.

Burnley rarely threatened, struggling to make any headway against Newcastle’s well-organised backline.

The home faithful had smiles on faces, not only after clinching three more points and watching the first goal of local-boy Longstaff, but also following another impressive performance by new signing Miguel Almiron.
