Pardew demands mental strength

Alan Pardew wants the Newcastle board to bolster the squad with mentally strong players in the transfer window next month.

"I think I am pretty clear in my mind of a couple of areas that need strengthening," the new manager said of the side he inherited from Chris Hughton.

"You bring professionals here and you are in danger of the club being bigger than the individual... it's a heavy shirt, the Newcastle shirt."
