Petr Cech may have enjoyed a fine pre-season with Arsenal, but his Premier League debut did not start in the same invincible fashion, with the goalkeeper culpable for both West Ham goals.

Cheikhou Kouyate put the Hammers in front with a header after Cech came charging out of his goal and totally missed the ball. While defenders Per Mertesacker and Nacho Monreal were at fault positionally, Cech should have done better when trying to get near the ball.

Then for West Ham's second, he got nowhere near Mauro Zarate's seemingly tame long-range effort.

At half-time, Sky pundit Jamie Carragher said of the first goal: "Cech's got to do better. You can't come flying out like that."

Cech signed for Arsenal for £11m from Chelsea this summer.
