Roberto Firmino has explained his celebration last night, after scoring Liverpool's third goal in their 3-0 win over Manchester City at Anfield.

The Liverpool playmaker took to instagram today to say that his celebration, which riled City goalkeeper Joe Hart so much, was in tribute to his new child, who was born two months ago.

After scoring in the 3-0 victory at Anfield, Hart frantically tried to retrieve the ball from Firmino to save time (watch below).

The Brazilian seemed to have no idea why Hart was trying to get the ball from him, and pushed it behind his back to further infuriate the 'keeper.

Speaking about the match, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp said after the game: "The best word I can say to describe this was 'boom'.

"What can I say? It was, from the first until the last second, a really good performance from my side."

Reflecting on Sunday's Capital One Cup final defeat to City, Adam Lallana added: "It was obviously disappointing at the weekend. The manager said it was important to bounce back here, especially for the fans.

"We'll be pleased today with that performance but it's still going to hurt, losing the final at the weekend.

"But a good performance all-round and we need to move on and finish the season strongly."

When asked about the gap between Manchester City and leaders Leicester, City boss Manuel Pellegrini said: "More than thinking about the gap or thinking about the other teams, I think it's important to try to recover our performance."
