Samir Nasri injury: Manchester City midfielder posts hospital bed picture after undergoing groin surgery that will see him miss a month

Samir Nasri has posted a picture from his hospital bed to confirm he is on the road to recovery after undergoing an operation on a groin injury, with the Manchester City midfielder expected to miss up to a month of action.

Having gone under the knife, Nasri will miss Premier League matches against Aston Villa, Tottenham and West Ham, as well as the Champions League clash against CSKA Moscow and the visit of Roma tomorrow night.

But the Frenchman posted a picture on his Twitter account to give his fans an update on his condition, and thanked those who had sent get well messages in his direction.

He added the caption: “Thanks for the support! Surgery went well! Now time for the recovery!”

“He was training but he wasn’t 100 per cent and he wasn’t comfortable with what he was doing so the doctor decided it was the best option.”

With Nasri missing for the next four weeks, Frank Lampard could continue in his prominent role he is currently enjoying. The former Chelsea midfielder has scored four goals in three games, all coming in the space of a week, and the prospect of him extending his loan move from New York City FC until February appears to be a very realistic one, given that the MLS season does not get underway until March.
