Manchester United seem to find points after putting in a weak performances, which makes it all the stranger when they can’t take away a result when they dominate so comprehensively.

United were the vastly superior team in all aspects except central defence which, combined with a pinch of bad luck, proved their undoing at the Liberty stadium.

Ander Herrera justified his place in the starting line-up, giving united the lead with a neat finish after a period of sublime attacking play.

The Reds then switched off, allowing Jonjo Shelvey to deliver an excellent ball into the box that left Rojo and Jones floundering. Ki Sung-Yueng was free to ghost in and clip the ball into the net.

Louis van Gaal’s team dominated the second half in terms of possession and quality, but a determined performance by the Swansea back line frustrated the United forwards.

Jonjo Shelvey was the catalyst again for Swansea’s second. He was given far too much space outside the area when his powerful shot was deflected by a ducking Gomis, who claimed the goal and the three points for Swansea.

United remained positive when they went behind, but they looked increasingly desperate. Swansea were resolute, denying relentless pressure from Rooney and co. and they saw their team home to a deserved three points.
