Arsenal legend Thierry Henry says that the club must "pull in the same direction" in the final weeks of the season as they bid to catch Leicester City and Tottenham Hotspur.

The Gunners have endured a disastrous run of form for almost the whole of 2016 - they find themselves 11 points down on Leicester, although they have a game in hand, with just nine matches remaining in the Premier League after winning just three of their 10 league matches this year.

Arsene Wenger has also attracted heavy criticism after the side were dumped out of the FA Cup by Watford and the Champions league by Barcelona in the last week.

Boos and jeers have been a frequent occurrance at the Emirates, while a number of fans are now calling on Wenger to step down.

Henry, who won two Premier League titles with the club, says that the squad has to remain positive and take one game at a time.

"You have to hope for the best in this type of situation," the Frenchman told Sky Sports News.

"Yes, if they don't win at Goodison it's going to be extremely difficult. Yes, mathematically it's still possible, even if they lose at Goodison [Park]. It's going to be very difficult.

"They have a game in hand in order to put some pressure on Tottenham and Leicester.

"I agree with what Arsene said, you can't stand still because at the end of the day you need points. [They] lost against Swansea at home when people didn't expect that, I think Swansea didn't expect that. But you have to try to remain positive, that's the only thing you can try to do right now. That's the only thing that you can go for.

"All the negativity that is surrounding the team at the moment is what they need to block in order to go forward. I'm sure you're aware when I mentioned that I never heard the crowd like that at the Emirates that that's what I meant.

"We have to all pull in the same direction, talking as an Arsenal fan here, in order for that team to go al the way. Still for Arsenal there's nine games to go. At the end you can you can judge. We can be here talking about what they didn't do well since the start of the season, but that won't help."
