Czech sufferes yet another setback and looks unlikely to play again for Arsene Wenger's side

Tomas Rosicky has been ruled out for three months with a thigh injury, with fears the midfielder might have played his last game for Arsenal.

Arsene Wenger confirmed on Monday Rosicky had a partial tendon rupture in his thigh, suffered within minutes of coming on against Burnley in the FA Cup last weekend.

Rosicky, 36, now faces a bleak future at the Emirates. By the time he returns in May Arsenal will have most of their key midfielders back in the side.

Asked if Rosicky has played his final game for Arsenal, Wenger said: “I hope not but the injury is quite a serious one. He will not need surgery.”

Wenger earlier this week admitted his bemusement at the Czech’s latest setback.

“Nobody understands,” Wenger said. “I told him straight away after half-time [against Burnley] to warm-up. I observed him, he's very conscientious, he did sprint and sprint and sprint. He warmed up well for 20 minutes. He comes on, after three minutes he got the injury. He said 'I stayed on because you couldn't change anymore'. He's devastated. It’s unbelievable.

“He's such a good player but his career has been disrupted by so many injuries. It's difficult for him. Let's hope we have good news, that it is not as bad as feared.”

Rosicky has been at Arsenal since 2006 but his career has been disrupted by a string of serious injuries.
