Everton manager David Moyes has been installed as the early favourite. The Scot has enjoyed a remarkable 10 year spell at Everton, where despite a lack of transfer funds, he has guided the Toffees to consistently high finishes in the Premier League. That he has just 12-months remaining on his Goodison Park contract is only likely to fuel speculation.

Fabio Capello
Former England manager Capello has hinted a job in the Premier League would be of interest. Prior to his time in charge of the national team, the Italian's CV was impeccable - a Champions League, cup successes and numerous league titles. The 65-year-old would represent a gamble considering his time away from day-to-day management.

A highly unlikely appointment and an outside bet with the bookies - but if Tottenham were given any encouragement they could land Guardiola, they would surely do everything they could. He resigned as Barcelona manager at the end of the season, citing the stresses of the game and the need to take a break from football. He's admitted he could be tempted back earlier than planned - but by Tottenham?

Sherwood was quickly appointed as an assistant at Tottenham after Redknapp took over at White Hart Lane. Having never been a manager of a club at any level, it seems highly unlikely he'll get his break at a club of the stature of Spurs. Despite that, bookmakers have the former Tottenham player in among the contenders.

Laurent Blanc
An outside bet considering it's unlikely he will want to end his time as manager of France. In his current role he's been doing an excellent job since taking over after the 2010 World Cup. But it's that record, along with his spell at Bordeux during which he won the Ligue 1 title, that have him in the reckoning. The former World Cup winner and Manchester United defender is considered one of the hottest properties in management right now.
