Manchester United are to renew their efforts to bring an end to the chants which were aimed at Arsène Wenger once again when Arsenal visited Old Trafford last Saturday.

The issue will be raised by chief executive David Gill at the club's official fans' forum next month.

Philip Townsend, United's director of communications, told an Arsenal fans group: "We have gone on the record about this disgusting chant. We don't condone it and have appealed to fans several times – through supporters' groups, the programme and MUTV, but to no avail. There are many chants that fans find objectionable, and this is one to which all decent fans should object."
