Angel Di Maria could be heading to Paris Saint-Germain with right-back Gregory van der Weil heading to Manchester United, according to reports in France.

Respected sports newspaper L'Equipe report that PSG are again interested in the Argentinian midfielder, who is their top target this summer.

Di Maria wanted to join PSG from Real Madrid and a deal was in place last summer before moving to Old Trafford.

But because of Financial Fair Play, the Paris club were unable to afford the fee having already splashed out £50million on David Luiz.

The 27-year-old, bought for a British record £59.7m, has struggled to settle into life in Manchester and his only start since March came in the final game of the season against Hull City.

Manchester United are searching for a right-back with winger Antonio Valencia having to play there most of the season.

L'Equipe state that PSG will get around their transfer restriction - limited to £42.5m - by offering Dutch right-back Gregory van der Wiel as part of a move. The 27-year-old was part of Louis van Gaal's World Cup squad.

To further get round FFP restrictions, PSG could sell the likes of Yohan Cabaye, Edinson Cavani and Ezequiel Lavezzi.

Manchester United have also been linked with other right-backs, Nathaniel Clyne and Dani Alves.

Di Maria only managed 23 minutes at the KC Stadium, coming off with a hamstring injury.
