Manchester United and Chelsea are set to do battle over Aletico Madrid hotshot Antoine Griezmann, according to reports.

The 25-year-old France international is said to be a key target for incoming Chelsea manager Antonio Conte, but the Daily Mail report Manchester United have now sent scouts to watch him.

Griezmann has become one of La Liga's most lethal strikers since moving to Atletico Madrid from Real Sociedad in 2014. He scored 25 goals last season but has improved his haul this campaign with 29 goals, as well as six assists, so far.

Atletico will not want to sell their biggest asset and any potential fee for the striker would likely cost the buying club a British transfer record fee of at least £60million.

Chelsea cannot offer Champions League football next season, while Manchester United are still fighting to reach the top four.

Griezmann is said to be keen on testing himself in the Premier League, although there have been some who argue he would struggle to thrive in the more physical division as he stands at just 5ft 8in and nine stone.
