Arsene Wenger has confirmed that both Shkodran Mustafi and Lucas Perez have undergone medicals ahead of their prospective moves to Arsenal.

Mustafi, a centre-back, and Perez, a striker, will join from Valencia and Deportivo La Coruna respectively for a combined total of approximately £52m.

"I think they should go through, both of them," Wenger said after his side’s 3-1 win at Watford on Saturday.

"They had medicals. We have to finish the paperwork and I don't know exactly when we will announce it but look, I think it could be announced at the beginning of the week."

Elsewhere, Arsenal’s name has been mentioned in connection with Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann, who was apparently the subject of interest from north London earlier this summer.

According to The Sun, Wenger explored the possibility of bringing the 25-year-old to the Emirates during this summer’s European Championships.

However, Wenger was informed that Griezmann, who finished as the tournament’s top scorer, was settled in Spain and would not consider a move to England.

Robert Lewandowski was also of interest, the tabloid report, only for Arsenal to balk at the Bayern Munich striker’s wage demands. Make of that what you will.

Internazionale’s Marcelo Brozovic is being bandied about by his agent, who would not be opposed to interest from Arsenal.

“It’s true, there are many options and we are talking about some big European clubs,” agent Miroslav Bicanic told Index in Croatia, in quotes picked up by Football Italia.

“I heard that Chelsea representatives are in Milan and that Arsenal are also prepared to sign him.

“Inter are pushing to sell to one of these two clubs who are prepared to pay a sum that satisfies all concerned.
