Arturo Vidal to Arsenal? Arsene Wenger reveals his interest in £44m-rated Juventus midfielder
Manchester United are also interested in the Chile international
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has revealed his admiration for Juventus' Chile international Arturo Vidal, who is also a target for Manchester United, labelling him as "one of the best midfielders in the world".
The rapid Vidal has impressed at this year's World Cup, and will be part of the Chile team to face Brazil in the second-round in Belo Horizonte tonight.
Reports suggest that Wenger could break Arsenal's transfer record to secure the deal for the 27-year-old. The Gunners' current record stands at £42m for Mesut Ozil from Real Madrid in September 2013.
Wenger, who is over in Brazil working as a pundit, was quoted as saying: "Vidal is one of the best midfielders in the world.
"He has everything. Incredible stamina, perfect timing. He’s a marathon athlete who plays football."
Arsenal have yet to sign a single player this summer, but have been linked with Auxerre's Serge Aurier and AC Milan striker Mario Balotelli.
