Former England star Ashley Cole is a free agent after Roma reportedly terminated his contract a year early.

The former Chelsea and Arsenal left-back, who won three Premier League titles, a record seven FA Cups, the Europa League and the Champions League, joined the Italian club last summer on a two-year deal.

But the 34-year-old only played 11 Serie A matches last season and hardly featured in manager Rudi Garcia's pre-season plans.

According to The Guardian, the club have decided to sever ties a year early with rumours linking Roma with Paris Saint-Germain defender Lucas Digne.

It is unclear so far what Cole, who also won 107 caps for England, intends to do next.
