Neymar has told Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez that he wants to stay at Barcelona, according to reports from Spain.

Last week a story broke in the Italian media claiming that PSG’s Qatari owners were willing to activate Neymar’s £195m release clause.

The story went on to state that Neymar would be offered a wage in the region of £25m-per-year to play in the French capital.

Barcelona President Josep Bartomeu was quick to insist that the 25-year-old is “not on the market”, although Neymar himself has remained ambiguous over his future.

However, the Spanish newspaper SPORT has reported that Neymar told Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez “I’ll stay” after his team-mates approached him to discuss his future on the club’s pre-season tour of the United States.

In a conversation ‘lasting more than an hour’ according to Spanish journalist Toni Frieros, Messi and Suarez attempted to convince Neymar to reject PSG’s offer and commit his future to Barcelona.

And it appears the conversation did the trick, as it is claimed Neymar told his team-mates he will remain at the club for the time being.

Barcelona meanwhile remain relaxed over the transfer speculation, with the club’s spokesman insisting last week that Neymar will not be sold.

“Selling Neymar is not something the club would think about,” Josep Vives said at a press conference. “We are very calm.

“He is one of the most important players we have, we will not consider any offers we receive for him.”
