Derbyshire joins Birmingham on season-long loan
Matt Derbyshire has returned to England after spending 18 months in Greece. The 24-year-old has moved to Birmingham on a season-long loan from Olympiakos after passing a medical yesterday, with an option of making the move permanent at the end of the season.
Derbyshire signed for the Greek side last year from Blackburn, where he struck 20 goals in 86 games, and he could make his debut against his former club when Alex McLeish's side host Rovers on Saturday.
Meanwhile, the Benfica president, Luis Filipe Vieira, has attached an expensive price tag to defender David Luiz. "We would only begin talks over an offer of about €40m [£32.3m]," Vieira said of Luiz, who has been interesting Chelsea.
"It would be impossible to consider any offer less than that because it would be bad business for us," he added.
