Joleon Lescott is having a medical at West Brom ahead of a move.

The centre back is out of contract after being released from Manchester City at the end of last season.

Lescott, 31, made just 10 appearances under Manuel Pellegrini as City won the title.

He previously worked with new West Brom manager Alan Irvine when he was at Everton.

"There is an interest in Joleon, without a doubt," said Irvine on Wednesday. "I believe negotiations are going very well at this particular moment."

Hull and Stoke were also keen the defender, who moved to the Etihad from Everton for £22m in 2009.

The former England defender won 26 caps for England but hasn't featured since March 2013.

Lescott, who is originally from Birmingham, started his career with West Brom's big rivals Wolves.
