Joleon Lescott has as many as five clubs interested in signing him on a free transfer after leaving Premier League champions Manchester City, it is being reported.

The former England defender was released by City last month after a five-year stay since joining the club from Everton in 2010. With the centre-back free to discuss a move to other clubs, both Aston Villa and West Ham are believed to be interest in his services, although the temptation to move abroad could be a deciding factor in Lescott’s next destination.

German side Schalke are reported to be interested in the 31-year-old, as well as Major League Soccer franchise Portland Timbers and United Arab Emirates side Al Ain.

But Lescott, who has earned 26 England caps since making his debut in 2007, has stressed that he has not decided his future just yet and has slammed reports that his hunger for the game has diminished.
