Blackburn Rovers manager Gary Bowyer has revealed the Championship club have rejected an offer from Middlesbrough for striker Jordan Rhodes, thought to be in the region of £14m.
The 25-year-old has reportedly asked the North West club for permission to talk to Aitor Karanka's promotion favourites, but Bowyer insists the club have rebuffed the bid.
"Yes, Middlesbrough have been in touch. I think they've put some figures to our owners," Bowyer told BBC Radio 5Live.
"Fortunately for myself and the rest of the lads, and of course our supporters, that bid has been rejected."
The Scotland international is contracted at Ewood Park until 2019 and joined Rovers for £8m from Huddersfield Town.
He scored 21 Championship goals last season as Blackburn struggled to mount a serious play-off bid while Hull City tried and failed to sign him last summer.
"He's been the subject of speculation in the whole two years I've been in charge and he's always dealt with it very well" Bowyer added.
"He doesn't get affected by it and continues to do his job ever so well."Reuse content
