Karim Benzema to Arsenal: Could James Rodriguez's Real Madrid move give Arsene Wenger hope of transfer?
The France international has long been linked with a move to the Emirates
Arsenal's hopes of signing Karim Benzema this summer may have been reignited by the impending arrival of James Rodriguez at the Bernabeu.
Benzema has long been linked with a move to the Emirates with the talented French striker seemingly a natural fit in Arsene Wenger's side. Despite the arrival of Alexis Sanchez, the Gunners are still in need of a typical centre-forward.
Loic Remy had appeared to be close to a move to the Emirates but now seems destined to join Liverpool.
Hopes of signing Benzema appeared to have been dashed just a couple of days ago amid reports that he was close to signing a new deal with Real Madrid emerged. However there has been a new twist at the Bernabeu.
The Champions League holders are closing in on a £71m deal with Monaco for World Cup star Rodriguez. If it goes through, the desire to hold on to Benzema will diminish. Rodriguez would likely edge out the France international to line up in a front three with Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo.

It is unlikely to be a situation that pleases Benzema and with the 26-year-old on high wages, Real Madrid may seek to cut their wage bill.
Arsenal will be paying close attention.
