Leicester City remain interested in signing Mainz striker Shinji Okazaki - despite the German club's inflated asking price.

The Japanese international has scored 41 goals for his country and would set the Foxes back at least £10m if a deal is to be completed this month.

Nigel Pearson has already completed a club-record £9.5m swoop for Andrej Kramaric but is reportedly keen to add further firepower to his misfiring strike force.

The 28-year-old picked up a thigh strain during the Asia Cup defeat to United Arab Emirates last week but should be able to complete a medical should the two clubs agree a fee.

Rumours are likely to be intensified before transfer deadline day, especially after Mainz signed Club Brugge striker Nicolas Castillo on loan.

Leicester have enjoyed an upturn in form in recent weeks, despite the disappointing 1-0 home loss to Stoke City last week, but have a tough run of fixtures in the coming weeks.

Saturday's clash with Manchester United is followed by the visit of relegation rivals Crystal Palace before meetings with Arsenal, Everton and Man City.

The Premier League's bottom club have been buoyed, however, by the news that defender Liam Moore won't be out for as long as previously feared.

The England under-21s star limped out of the FA Cup fourth-round victory over Tottenham Hotspur last weekend but is only expected to be out for between 10 days and two weeks.

Meanwhile Pearson's men have been linked by the Daily Mail with a move for West Bromwich Albion midfielder Graham Dorrans but negotiations appeared to have stalled.
