Liverpool’s Suso could be on his way to Porto if one of Portugal’s leading newspaper’s is to be believed, with the 20-year-old set to end his unsuccessful spell at Anfield with a move back to the European mainland.

O Jogo claims that newly appointed manager Julen Lopetegui has earmarked Suso as his number one target, identifying the Porto squad as short of talent on the wings, and a move to the Portuguese club is said to have been approved by the player’s agent Dani Rodriguez.

However, a move to Porto could hamper Liverpool’s attempts to land Seville defender Alberto Moreno, with the La Liga club keen on taking Suso as part of the deal. Having spent last season on loan with Almeria – where he scored three time in 33 appearances – Seville have been impressed with the out-of-favour winger and with just a year left on his Liverpool contract, he looks certain to leave the Premier League runners-up.

Suso joined the Reds’ Academy in 2010 when Roy Hodgson replaced Rafael Benitez, but he has since made just 14 league appearances for the club and 20 in total, having never found the back of the net.

According to the report, a move for Suso could go through before the start of the 2014-15 season, meaning that Liverpool may have to up their bid for Moreno with talks on-going over a move for the 21-year-old. Reports had suggested that the Spanish left-back, who narrowly missed out on inclusion in Vicente del Bosque’s Spain squad for the World Cup, could cost upwards of £16m.

Liverpool may also ditch their move for Adam Lallana after Southampton delayed responding to their final take-it-or-leave-it £25m offer, even though the England international is keen on heading to Merseyside in order to play Champions League football.

Having already secured striker Rickie Lambert from Saints, Brendan Rodgers has shown a clear intention to strengthen early this summer as he looks to build a squad capable of challenging in the Champions League as well as going one step further in the Premier League to end their 24-year drought of the top flight title.
