As Raheem Sterling continues to reject any prospect of signing a new contract with Liverpool, surely there will come a time when the club realise they need to cut their losses and sell the attacking midfielder in order to generate some money from his departure.

With Sterling desperate to leave, Brendan Rodgers would not be blamed for taking a look at the transfer market this summer and analyse who he could sign in order to replace Sterling when he inevitably leaves – be it this summer, the following summer of when his contract expires in 2017.

The question then is who could Liverpool bring in to replace the 20-year-old, be it a like-for-like replacement or a shift in tactics that could see Rodgers start afresh once again.
