Pep Guardiola refuses to rule out Man City transfer for Dani Alves

Bayern Munich director Hasan Salihamidzic has followed chief executive Karl Heinz-Rummenigge’s criticism of Niko Kovac’s comments by urging the Croatian to apologise to Manchester City for speaking publicly about the club’s pursuit of Leroy Sane.

The German winger has been linked with a move back to the Bundesliga after struggling to hold down a first team place under Pep Guardiola.

But after Kovac described Sane as the club’s “dream” player and admitting the Bavarians were confident of prizing him away from the Etihad, Salihamidzic has instructed the Croatian to backtrack with City angry at the public courting.

“It is important not to talk about the players who are under contract with another club,” Salihamidzic said, as reported by SportBild.

“You have to apologise to Man City for being talked about the player all the time.

“We are well advised to say nothing more about the matter, but to keep calm to the outside and to the inside. We have to let this rest now.”

Sane could cost in excess of £72m, with Kovac previously revealing his confidence that a deal would get done.

“I am confident, I think we can get him,” Kovac told ZDF.

He added, speaking to Bild: “We all know that Sane is our dream player. The public knows that, we know that.

“We will do everything to realise this transfer.”

While Bayern star Joshua Kimmich admits a deal may not materialise this summer.

“I do not know what the signals are,” Kimmich said. “I guess the club would like to sign him.

“If Leroy wanted to, he would probably already be here, so I do not know what the state of affairs is.”
