Manchester City transfer news: Completed summer deals, including Eliaquim Mangala, Fernando and Bacary Sagna

A look at the players who have arrived at the Etihad this summer and those who have departed

The Premier League victors claimed their second league title in three years, finishing two points clear of Liverpool at the top and a staggering 22 points clear of reigning champions Manchester United.

This term, City will just want to build on their success. Adding more silverware is a must and Manuel Pellegrini will be under pressure to make sure his side performs in the Champions League.

Fernando - £12m from Porto

Nicknamed ‘The Octopus’, Fernando is the kind of midfield destroyer City have been missing since they sold Nigel de Jong. Fernandinho was impressive in his debut season in England, driving forward as well as covering for Yaya Toure, but Fernando will offer more solidity and know-how when City have to sit back and soak up pressure on big European nights.

Bacary Sagna - Free from Arsenal

It remains to be seen whether he will replace fan favourite Pablo Zabaleta, who missed just three matches in the Premier League last season, at right back or whether he has been brought in because of his versatility. Sagna can play all across the back four and is exceptional at getting up and down the wing.

Willy Caballero - £6m from Malaga

Manuel Pellegrini proved he was not afraid of dropping Joe Hart last season when the England No 1’s form stuttered. Costel Pantilimon has moved to Sunderland and Caballero, who Pellegrini knows from his time at Malaga, is a noticeable upgrade. Will likely begin as the No 2 but will keep Hart at his best.

Eliaquim Mangala - Undisclosed from Porto

The French defender moved to bring captain Vincent Kompany in a deal that could be worth up to £42m because of the 23-year-old's third party rights. A gifted athlete, Mangala is composed on the ball and a real threat from set-pieces - he has scored 12 goals in the last two seasons. Mangala should become first-choice alongside Kompany, but can also play at left-back if needed.
