He may have only been in the job five minutes, but Jose Mourinho is already in a “transfer stand-off” with Manchester United officials.

That’s according to The Sun, at least, who report that the club hierarchy will not sanction a move for Southampton defender Jose Fonte until fringe players are sold.

Whie there have been a number of high-profile acquisitions at Old Trafford this summer, no established names have left the club.

Marcos Rojo is one such player who could be moved off the books.

According to the same Sun report, the Argentina international is the subject of interest from Monaco, but the Ligue 1 side want his wages to be subsidised.

Bastian Schweinsteiger’s days in the north-west remain numbered, despite reports in his native Germany suggesting that he will be kept on.

Despite the Germany international reportedly training with United’s Under-23 squad since returning from the European Championships in France, Sport1 claimed he would not leave this summer.

However, according to ESPN, Mourinho still has no intention of keeping Schweinsteiger.

Andreas Pereira has been listed for loan and is wanted by Fulham – or, more specifically, Fulham’s manager Slavisa Jokanovic.

The club’s data analyst Craig Kilne, however, is not so sure.

Kilne has vetoed the deal, so say the Daily Telegraph, which has angered Jokanovic and left Pereira’s temporary move at an impasse.

One player who could be on the way in, transfer stand-off or not, is Livingston’s teenage striker Matthew Knox.

The 16-year-old has been handed a second trial by United, report the Daily Record, having impressed at training sessions earlier this summer.

Rangers are also known to be monitoring Knox's situation.
