Manchester United transfer news: United given green light to sign Fredy Guarin - reports from Italy

Louis van Gaal could move for the Inter Milan midfielder if his pursuit of Vidal fails

Manchester United have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Fredy Guarin after Inter Milan revealed they were willing to sell the midfielder.

Inter want to move Guarin on to make room for Jonathan Biabiany's return to the club from Parma. The Frenchman spent seven years in Milan from 2004 to 2011.

The Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport claims that Inter boss Walter Mazzarri is so desirous of bringing Biabiany back into the Inter fold that he is happy to let Guarin leave.

That could be good news for Louis van Gaal, who would like to bring the Colombian to Manchester if a deal for Arturo Vidal fails to materialise.

The United boss is currently assessing Vidal's fitness in readiness for a reported £47 million bid.

Any prospective deal for Guarin could be complicated by West Brom. The Midlands club are in talks to sign Biabiany, as reported by Italian journalist Gianluca di Marzio's website.

"West Bromwich Albion are strongly interested in Jonathan Biabiany. The English club presented a €6M offer to Parma: it’s not a done deal yet, but the negotiation is well underway. There’ll be new contacts in the next days, the negotiation could gain momentum soon," stated the website.
