Arsenal are facing the prospect of a Juventus bid for German playmaker Mesut Ozil, if reports in Italy are to be believed.

Italian newspaper Tuttosport  state that the 26-year-old has become a top target for the Old Lady, who have seen Andrea Pirlo already leave this summer and Arturo Vidal and Paul Pogba also linked with moves away.

Max Allegri has added Sami Khedira from Real Madrid for nothing - a good friend and team-mate of Ozil's - but if either of those other two leave, Juvenus see Ozil as a potential replacement.

Tuttosport state that Juventus would offer a rather fanciful €40million (£28.8m) for the German but could also delay the move until next summer.

It seems unlikely Wenger would want to sell a player who started to show some of his very best form. Ozil was one of the best players on the pitch when Arsenal won the FA Cup in May.

Wenger has never been keen to sell players for a heavy loss and a bid of this size would constitute a £13.7m loss for a player just about to enter his prime; that's never been Wenger's modus operandi.
