Paul Pogba to Manchester United: Juventus midfielder tells fans to 'let him rest a bit' amid £100m talks

Paul Pogba has issued a plea with Juventus and Manchester United supporters to “let him rest a bit” as talks continue between his representatives and the 20-time English champions concerning a £100m return to Old Trafford.

The Turin-giants have rejected two bids from United this summer, the latter of which thought to be in the region of £92m, but Jose Mourinho is believed to have informed executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward to get the deal done whatever the cost.

Posting a picture of himself on Instagram last night while playing basketball on holiday in Las Vegas, the 23-year-old said: “Sports is everything, guys let me rest a bit.”

Mourinho refused to be drawn on the topic this morning on the club’s pre-season tour of China, ahead of the International Champions Cup clash with Borussia Dortmund tomorrow, but did reveal that Woodward has completed deals for “75 per cent” of the targets he raised with him last month.

“I don't confirm and I don't deny (that we have agreed to sign Pogba),” Mourinho said in Shanghai. “I cannot tell. First of all, because I don't think it’s correct to speak about players from other clubs. He's a Juventus player not a Manchester United player. We have three players to fill that profile. I am really confident that Mr Woodward and the owners will bring me that profile of player.”

Mino Raiola, the super-agent behind United’s successful acquisitions of Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, is overseeing the talks and is keen to get the deal over the line, largely because of the agent fee on offer.
