Paul Pogba to undergo Manchester United medical in LA after £112m deal agreed

United will pay Juventus a world record fee of £92m as well as an additional £20m to his agent Mino Raiola in order to sign the France midfielder

Paul Pogba took a giant step towards completing his £100m move to Manchester United on Thursday night after he flew from Miami to Los Angeles to undergo a medical, with terms reported to have been agreed between the Premier League side and Juventus.

The move had been held up due to a disagreement in which club would pay Pogba’s agent, Mino Raiola, for his fee as part of the deal, while United started the bidding at around £82m before increasing that by £10m.

It was finally reported on Wednesday that United had met Juventus’s £92m asking price, and according to French journalist Nabil Djellit – who writes for L’Equipe and France Football, Raiola’s agent fee has also been agreed with United paying £20m and Juventus paying the additional £4m.

It means that United will pay a world record fee of £112m for Pogba, without taking into consideration his wages after he agreed a five-year deal on a reported £220,000-a-week.

It was claimed that Raiola had cancelled an original medical due to the disagreement, but the breakthrough in negotiations has led Pogba to fly to the west coast of the United States to undergo an initial medical.

With United due to fly out to Sweden on Friday ahead of their pre-season match against Galatasaray in Gothenburg, Pogba will have a basic medical at a remote location in Los Angeles, before undergoing a full evaluation once he arrives in Manchester.

The deal is now expected to go through in a matter of days, with sources close to Juventus suggesting that the France international could be a United player before the weekend is over.

Pogba’s Juventus departure comes just days after the Italian champions signed Gonzalo Higuain from Napoli in a £75m deal, and will give them enough firepower in the transfer market to remain active and bring in a replacement for Pogba.
