Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly willing to lose up to £15m on Roberto Saldado as the Spanish striker nears towards an £11m move to Villarreal.

Former Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas signed the 30-year-old for £26m from Valencia two years ago in the wake of Gareth Bale's record transfer to Real Madrid.

Soldado has scored just seven Premier League goals in 52 appearances at White Hart Lane during a torrid two year stay in English football.

According to the Daily Mirror, La Liga side Villarreal are ready to save him from his misery but only if Spurs are prepared to take a considerable hit on his valuation.

The Spanish side had initially hoped to sign Soldado on a season-long loan seal but Tottenham want to continue their summer clearout by offloading him on a permanent basis.

Paulinho, Etienne Capoue and Vlad Chiriches have already been sold as Mauricio Pochettino continues to remedy the mistakes of the past in North London.
