Southampton chairman Ralph Krueger has denied widespread reports that Morgan Schneiderlin and Jay Rodriguez are set to join former Saints boss Mauricio Pochettino at Tottenham Hotspur.

Speaking to the Southern Daily Echo, the 54-year-old former ice hockey coach has staunchly dismissed any rumours suggesting this summer's exodus in the South Coast is set to continue.

Ronald Koeman, the new Saints boss, has seen Luke Shaw, Rickie Lambert, Adam Lallana, Dejan Lovren and Calum Chambers all leave before he could even evaluate his new squad.

His chairman, however, has moved to reassure supporters that the outgoings will soon stop.

“Specifically to Rodriguez and Schneiderlin, they will not be going anywhere," he said.

“We see them as part of a core and the core we’ve got right now and in place is a core that is where Ronald would like to go and they a part of that core.

“Any reports that Rodriguez or Schneiderlin are leaving or we are in engaged in transfer conversations are totally off the mark.

“They will not be sold.”

Krueger also refuted any suggestion that the club, which he runs alongside Katharina Liebherr, were asset stripping before planning to sell up in the near future.

Pochettino is believed to be keen on taking both Schneiderlin and Rodriguez with him to White Hart Lane after so far resisting the temptation to sign his former players.

His replacement, on the other hand, has already tied up deals for Graziano Pelle and Dusan Tadic ahead of a summer of rebuilding at St. Mary's.
